JSW Steel, the largest private steel manufacturer in India, has awarded a major engineering and construction contract valued between 1.2 billion and 1.8 billion US dollars to Larsen & Toubro, a well-known local engineering enterprise. This contract serves its key capacity expansion projects located in Karnataka and Odisha states. The company plans to lift its total crude steel production capacity from the current 35 million tons to 56 million tons by 2031, with the overall investment of the whole expansion plan exceeding 24 billion US dollars. In recent years, India’s steel production has maintained a rapid growth rate, outperforming most major steel-producing countries in the world. Industry analysts point out that with the continuous expansion of production capacity, India will further lift its position in the global steel market, and its steel products will be supplied to more overseas regions.
