Brussels, July 23 – The World Steel Association (worldsteel) published monthly crude steel production statistics covering 70 reporting economies. Global crude steel output reached 155.7 million tonnes in June 2026, rising 1.7% year-on-year. Production performance varied widely across regions.

       The EU 27 registered a 4.6% year-on-year output growth, while North American production increased by 5.0%. In contrast, crude steel output in the Middle East fell 13.4%, and production within Russia and other CIS nations dropped 2.2%. As the world’s largest steel producer, China turned out 83.7 million tonnes of crude steel, a mild 0.4% year-on-year rise. Industry analysts pointed out that uneven recovery of manufacturing and infrastructure demand around the world is the main driver of such divergent production data, and seasonal demand weakness is expected to weigh on steel output in the third quarter.
