Andhra Pradesh, India, July 3 – JSW Steel formally broke ground on its integrated steel plant project located in Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. The total investment reaches 16,350 crore Indian rupees, equivalent to roughly USD 1.96 billion.

       The development will be completed in two phases. Phase one will build a 1 million tonne-per-year low-carbon steel facility adopting electric arc furnace technology, scheduled for commercial operation around 2028. The second phase will expand overall capacity to 2 million tonnes annually. The plant will be supported by dedicated renewable power projects using solar and wind energy to cut carbon emissions. Once fully operational, the new capacity will greatly improve domestic long steel supply in southern India and support national infrastructure and manufacturing development.
